Weightlifting is an Olympic sport; it is when an athlete attempts a maximum-weight single lift of barbell loaded weight plates. The two lifts included in a weightlifting competition are called a clean and jerk and the snatch. The weightlifter will have a total of 3 attempts to achieve a specific weight and the athlete with the maximum weight lifted in that category will win the competition.
